Defining a temporary file as a data source
Define a data source variable for a temporary file.
- Select Edit > Add New Data Source Variable. The Data Source panel appears.
- In the Comment field, enter an optional description or explanation of the data source you are creating.
- In the Name field, enter the name you want to assign to this data source variable. It is helpful if you use a name similar to the name of the data source this variable points to.
- In the Source type field, select Temporary file from the drop-down list.
- Enter one or more field names in the Field Name column. These fields indicate the structure and content your data source file will have, and should be listed in the same order in which the fields will be written to and read from the file.
- For each field name you entered, select its appropriate field type from the respective Field Type drop-down list.
- For appropriate fields, click Pr to define pre-processing options. For detailed information, see the Defining Preprocessing Options topic.
- Select the Key check box for any fields on which you want to have an Item Reconciliation rule procedure sort on before processing the file.
- Click OK in the template pane. The New data source variable you defined appears in the list of DATA SOURCES displayed in the upper-left pane of the Rule Editor.
